WHY DO I NEED LENT?
Lent undermines my arrogance. Do I think I'm smarter than God? Lent renews my faith. I'm still God's even though I messed up & will mess up again. Lent lets me be vulnerable. My heart is broken, God. I need your healing. Lent focuses my spiritual practice. I've been loafing. I need space to encounter the living God. Lent slows me down. Modern culture values productivity, speed, & excess more than contemplation, simplicity, and quietness. Lent leads me into new possibility. Focusing on repentance & forgiveness cleans the spiritual cobwebs & allows God to do new things! (adapted from ntwrightonline.org)

12 Yet even now, says the Lord,
return to me with all your hearts,
with fasting, with weeping, and with sorrow;

Lent is a 40 day season, not including Sundays, that begins Ash Wednesday and ends the Saturday before Easter Sunday. It's a special season of repentance and self-examination observed by Christians worldwide. This worship service provides an opportunity to reflect on our need for grace and accept God’s invitation to turn from sin and follow Him.

Saturday, March 14, 2026, we will meet at Haynes Chapel in Murfreesboro, TN for this 2-hour training event. We will conclude our time with lunch that is provided. When it's all said and done, everyone attending will be more confident, comfortable, and competent on how to share their faith.
Richard has served as a missionary in India and in leadership aboard three international ministry ships and preached the gospel in nearly 100 countries. He is married to Rachel and they are based in Tyrone, Georgia with OM USA. Richard has served on church leadership teams in England, Canada and the USA.
