Feb. 18 @ 6:30 PM.

Lent is a 40 day season, not including Sundays, that begins Ash Wednesday and ends the Saturday before Easter Sunday. It's a special season of repentance and self-examination observed by Christians worldwide. This worship service provides an opportunity to reflect on our need for grace and accept God’s invitation to turn from sin and follow Him.

Joel 2.12-13 CEB

12 Yet even now, says the Lord,
    return to me with all your hearts,
        with fasting, with weeping, and with sorrow;
13 tear your hearts
        and not your clothing.
    Return to the Lord your God,
        for he is merciful and compassionate,
        very patient, full of faithful love,
            and ready to forgive.

Reading for Lent 2026

The Season of Lent begins Wednesday, February 18. Our daily readings will come from JD Walt's book called Jesus Asking. Group discussions will happen during the Sunday School hour at 9 AM in the Fellowship Hall or Sunday evenings at 6:30 PM in the home of Rodney and Tina Robinson. Lent is a journey with Jesus to the cross. It also prepares for celebrating the Resurrection on Easter Sunday! The more we allow the Holy Spirit to transform us on the way to the cross, the better we will understand the victory we have in Jesus and the hope of new creation! Please join us this Lent.

Food Pantry

The Loretto church community joins together to meet the needs of those who are truly struggling with food, shelter, utilities, and even addiction. Some churches specialize in one thing or another and all churches help on other things. The local food pantry is housed at Faith Baptist Church, but is one of those ministries that depends on the support of every church. Loretto Methodist Church designates the 1st Sunday of the month as Food Pantry Sunday. We ask members of the congregation to bring food or give a financial donation that will be passed along to this ministry. Jesus looked with compassion on those who were hungry and fed them. In fact, Jesus wants us to feed the hungry as a natural way of living. God's people are doing God's work when we provide food for the hungry!

Hygiene Sunday

On the third Sunday of the month, we collect hygiene products to be donated to the local schools. Each school has a hygiene bank. The school nurse offers these products for any student in need. Many families struggle with basic needs. This is an opportunity to impact day to day life.

Mountain Top @ Home

Every 3rd Saturday (and sometimes in between), we meet at 7:30 am for breakfast and then go out in the community for a work project. We're usually finished by noon. We build wheelchair ramps, clean up brush, remove fallen trees, and other odd jobs when someone has a need. Mountain Top @ Home has been around for more than 20 years and built over 300 wheelchair ramps. Our voluneers are great servants who desire to bring hope to a hurting world.
